Zero Harm 2024 By the Numbers

In 2024, 71 SC hospitals participated in our Zero Harm program, leading to more than 2,700 fewer days in the hospital for their patients. They saved more than $10 million in healthcare costs in 2023, including over $2 million saved for prevention of surgical site infections for SC patients.

Below are some other great numerical achievements from this year's award winners:

# of central line days without harm = 116,589

# of patient days without harm = 366,114

# of surgical procedures without harm = 5,532

# of hospital days avoided = 2,798 days

A total of 364 awards were presented in 2023 to 71 SCHA member hospitals. Here's a breakdown of individual award categories:
